Lots of people ask when I am returning to work and I just tell them. It's no big deal. Usually, I have no idea because I keep extending it. My manager and job allow me to.
However, on one occasion, another mother asked me this very question and when I mentioned that I might be returning once my little man is 6 months old, I was hit with a million questions regarding why so early to which I got mighty defensive! Like for example, I need social interaction with other adults, I need to get out of the house cause I'm going a little mad, and (although I didn't mention this, money was a factor too! - But really was it any of her business??)! Anyway, her response was, "so go to playgroup, meet other mums there". I mentioned that I tried mother's group once but it didn't work too well for me so I gave up. Then I finally got hit with - "what kind of mother are you??" I was dumbstruck! How dare she attack the way I mother? Just cause I perhaps needed to go back to work before the full year? What was it her business anyway? She left her kids with her parents or in-laws practically every day since they were born anyway so why was she being such a hypocrite?!
Bottom line is, I've never spoken properly to her again.Yes, I am tired, I make mistakes, I may not be the best person or mother around, but I do my best - either on my own or with hubby's help or with our families' help. If my son does his best when he's older, either at school or outside of school, I will be mighty proud of him. I am a great mother and extremely proud of it too!
So! To all those jealous biatchezzz, get a life and suck on it! I reckon I am a better mum than you! I spend PLENTY of time with my son; every minute of my life I devote to him! I don't even sleep the way I used to anymore! --- and THAT IS WHY I AM SO TIRED!!
A few months after my son was born, I noticed myself getting more and more tired and slowly getting depressed. I figured I needed to help myself before I went mad! So - this personal blog has been my way of expressing my feelings and venting. It's helped me out greatly. Hopefully my lessons and stories help you too!

What Have You Done for YOURSELF This Week?
A friend once told me that in her mother's group, they were asked to go around the room to let each other know what activity/ies they had done for themselves that particular week. Most people had mentioned things like 'taking a long shower', 'taking their time on the toilet', and 'read one chapter of a book'. However for that particular week, she boasted that she went to a footy game. Everyone was jealous! Since then, I've always thought, why don't I take time out to do at least 1 thing for myself every week.
Well, this week I did 3 things, all in one afternoon! After I dropped off my little man with my in-laws, I went to get an hour long massage, I then bought myself some tabouli and a drink and sat in the park to eat, and finally, I went to the local library and read some of their newest magazines. I didn't even realise at the time that the library subscribes to an array of magazines!
So now I'll be thinking of something else to do for next week!

Lesson #1 - Asking for Help
I have just decided to start my own blog. The reason for this is in an attempt to reclaim my sanity after my 7 month old son came down with his very 1st flu, which of course, had to be accompanied by a high fever, and therefore a trip to the hospital and several trips to the local doctor. The doctor told me to "stop worrying!" and that she has seen me too many times in the last week. Oh boy, did I want to smash her! She has no idea how clingy my little man got and only wanted his mummy - and that is why I am so tired this week.
Apart from using this blog to help reclaim my sanity, my mum and mum-in-law have helped me out significantly. My mum-in-law slept over, and in fact, slept with my little man all night on the couch cause he didn't want to be left alone and, thankfully, to give me a break.
Until now, I have pushed both mums away thinking that "I can do it all"... And I was honestly ashamed. Why couldn't I do it all? But the truth is, I can't do it all and I don't know how anyone can without some help! And now I don't believe anyone that tells me that they do it all on their own!!
So - my 1st lesson learnt is to 'Ask for Help'. Don't be ashamed, embarrassed or worried about what others think. Who cares? Your loved ones will help willingly and will never look down upon you. From now on, I'll be asking for more help.
